One of our Vet Nurses literally going the extra mile!

Karen, one of our RCVS Qualified Nurses, is raising money for Cardiomyopathy UK by running in the London Marathon.  She has a close family member affected by this problem so decided to apply with the charity to run this year on the 22nd April.  Luckily she was chosen so has been busy getting ready for the run of her life.

Training time is hard to find….

Training hasn’t been easy with two young children, working & the usual illness/injury issues over the winter months.  She has been doing early morning boot camps, running 2-3 times a week and attending keep fit classes.  She has also done the Cardiff and the Eden half marathons too.   She is now just hoping she has done enough enough to get her through all 26.2 miles.

As well as her training she has been organising many events to help raise funds and awareness for Cardiomyopathy UK which so far has raised over £1,000.

…but training is all in a days work

Karen has worked with the Pelyn team for around 12 years no.  And one of her great skills is her training and support of our student Veterinary Nurses.  She is a clinical coach and helps our younger nurses through their hard training as they aim to qualify as QVNs.  She is now one of the Clinical Lead Nurses for the Kernow Vets team.  She has a keen interest in small animal physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

If you can help her at all with her fund raising efforts then you can donate by clicking here – Karen’s just giving page

Good luck Karen from all the Kernow Vets team
