Have you ever wondered what happens if a dog needs a blood transfusion? Kernow Veterinary Group Bloodhounds were formed to enable easy access to canine blood when needed. The “˜houndsâ’ are pre blood-typed, fit, healthy dogs over 25kg in weight so able to give blood without ill-effect. They can be any breed. We also have access to the National Pet Blood Bank but, as it is based in Loughborough, they are sometimes too many hours away when emergency calls. The Kernow Bloodhounds bridge that gap and help to save lives. If you are interested in volunteering your dog to join this special team then contact Jennifer Beard at the Pelyn Lostwithiel surgery or ask at any reception in the Kernow Group.
