Meet Bob – a lively young cat who grew a bit more than he ought to!

Bob the cat has been attending our veterinary practice since he was just 12 weeks old.  Bob loves coming to the practice and receiving fuss, especially from the reception team and the nurses.

Unfortunately as Bob grew so did his appetite!  Before long Bob was tipping the scales at almost 6kg before his 1st birthday.

When Bob attended the surgery for his annual booster the vet weighed him and discussed with the owner the potential hazards of being an over weight cat or dog which include:

· Diabetes mellitus

· Arthritis

· Lower urinary tract disease

· Difficulty breathing

· Pancreatitis

The vet recommended a course of weight clinics with the nurse.   All of our Kernow Vets veterinary team based in Mid Cornwall with surgeries in St Austell, Bodmin, Liskeard and Lostwithiel run nurse clinics for all sorts of pets including cats, dogs and rabbits.  Weight control is just one of the health support items the nurses can help you with.

Armed with the information from the vet his owners were determined to get Bob back to the slim tabby cat he once was.  Bob was more than happy to attend his monthly weight clinics, for fuss from the nurses and to collect his food, which he really, REALLY! enjoys.

Bob has been gradually losing weight over the past couple of months, and has gained a new lease of life as a young fit cat.

Bobs owner is thrilled with the results of the clinics and says “Bob is a very special little boy.  I realise now that I was grossly overfeeding him and in doing so putting his health at risk.  I am so happy to have my active fun loving cat back”.

We think Bobs done amazingly well, and look forward to his next visit.

If you think your cat or dog would benefit from losing a few pounds like Bob then contact our local Kernow veterinary surgeries for information on appointments and products to get your pet back on track.  Our nursing team are here to help.
