The new year is a time when many of us think about trying to shed the pounds – but many pet owners are unaware that this should apply to their pets too.
Kernow Vets have seen first hand the evidence that pet obesity cases are on the rise, with many owners unaware that their pet is an unhealthy weight.
Following the inevitable Christmas overindulgence, our vet clinics in St Austell, Bodmin and Lostwithiel are urging owners to enrol their pets in our Waist Watchers plan – a free programme which assesses your pet and then provides you with all the information you need to help a pudgy pooch or fat feline lose weight.
Being overweight can bring about a whole host of health problems for animals, such as diabetes, arthritis and breathing problems – ultimately giving them a shorter life expectancy.
Kernow Vets is on hand to help. We work closely with pet owners to devise an easy to follow action plan which is based on diet and exercise recommendations, together with ongoing support, encouragement and follow-up.
